The crucial border talks between the Chief Ministers of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh is underway.
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Aruachal CM Pema Khandu are engaging in talks at the Golden Pagoda Resort in Namsai where they being joined by cabinet ministers from both states and other officials.
It may be mentioned here that earlier both the state governments agreed to set up district level committees headed by cabinet ministers to end the decades old border border dispute – a move similar to the one agreed by Assam and Meghalaya.
In fact, there are 123 villages along the Assam -Arunachal border which are in dispute. It was decided in the second border meet to form 12 committees in each state, who would jointly visit all disputed areas and try to find a resolution.
The first round of talks between the two Chief Ministers took place in Delhi last year and the second round took place on April 20 in Guwahati.
