Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi Asks Assam CM: ‘Will You Resign if Allegations Against Me and My Wife Being Agents of Pakistan Not Proven?’

Earlier, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma offered to resign if Gogoi could prove he had never visited Pakistan

After Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma raised a series of questions over Gaurav Gogoi and his wife Elizabeth Colburn Gogoi’s alleged links to Pakistan, Gogoi asked Chief Minister Sarma if he will really resign if he fails to prove his explosive allegations.

What began with CM Sarma questioning Gogoi’s alleged 15-day stay in Islamabad, Pakistan and his wife’s purported financial links to a Pakistan-based NGO, has now exploded into an all-out political slugfest.

Refusing to stay silent, Gaurav Gogoi launched a fierce counterattack and fired 3 pointed questions at the Chief Minister: “Will you resign if you fail to prove your allegations of me and my wife being agents of an enemy country?; Will you take questions on your own children and wife?; Will the state police arrest those linked to the coal mafia who are ravaging the hills of Assam and making crores of undeclared money?”

CM Minister Sarma was quick to respond to Gogoi and clarified that neither he nor his children have ever visited Pakistan. Moreover, his wife and his family would never even think of accepting any salary or financial support from Pakistan.

“I would like to clarify that neither I nor my son and daughter have ever visited Pakistan. Furthermore, my wife and our entire family would never even think of accepting any salary or financial support from Pakistan. All members of my family, including my wife, son, and daughter, are Indian citizens. None of my children has ever surrendered or renounced Indian citizenship. Now, it is your turn to answer. In the coming days, sufficient material will be placed in the public domain exposing the connections between the concerned Congress Member of Parliament and Pakistan. Wait for 10th September 2025,” CM Sarma tweeted.

Earlier in the day, CM Himanta Biswa Sarma asked Gaurav Gogoi if he had visited Pakistan and stayed there continuously for 15 days. If so, CM Sarma asked, if he could clarify the purpose of his visit.

The Chief Minister further questioned whether Gogoi’s wife, Elizabeth Colburn Gogoi, continues to receive a salary from a Pakistan-based NGO while residing and working in India, and pressed for clarity on the citizenship status of Gogoi’s wife and two children.

CM Sarma also stated that the Assam Government has enough evidence to prove that the Congress MP had travelled to Pakistan multiple times.

He even offered to resign if Gogoi could prove he had never visited Pakistan.
