Assam Police Seize Drugs Worth Over Rs 2600 Cr, Arrests 20,000 In 4 Years from 2021 to 2025

In a sweeping crackdown on the drug menace under the state’s flagship campaign Mission #AssamAgainstDrugs, the Assam Police have registered remarkable success seizing drugs worth over Rs 2,604 crore and arresting 20,293 individuals since 2021, said Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
According to data shared by the Assam government, 12,398 cases have been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 during this period.
The massive seizures include 553 kg heroin, 24 kg crystal methamphetamine, 1.61 crore units of tablets/capsules, 12.44 lakh bottles of codeine-based cough syrup, 1.25 lakh kg ganja, 621 kg opium, 3,324 kg poppy straw.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has reiterated the government’s commitment to building a drugs-free Bharat, stating that the anti-narcotics drive will continue with full intensity to dismantle drug networks and protect the youth.
“Since 2021, we have taken a firm stand against the menace of drugs. Under our Mission #AssamAgainstDrugs, we have seized over ₹2600cr of various drugs and arrested over 20,000 people to contribute to the overall vision of a #DrugsFreeBharat. #4YearsOfSewa,” CM Sarma tweeted.
