Assam Panchayat Elections to Be Held in Two Phases on May 2 and May 7

The filing of nominations for the Assam Panchayat elections is set to begin tomorrow.

The upcoming Panchayat elections in Assam will be held in two phases on May 2 and May 7, announced the Assam State Election Commission (SEC) today.

In the first phase on May 2, polling will take place in Upper Assam and the Barak Valley, while the second phase on May 7 will cover the rest of the state.

A total of 1,80,36,682 voters, reflecting a 13.27% increase in the voter base compared to the previous polls will cast their votes.

Voting will take place in 25,007 polling stations across the state.

A force of approximately 1,20,000 polling personnel will be deployed to ensure the smooth conduct of the elections. Additionally, 88 observers have been appointed to oversee the electoral process across 27 districts, ensuring transparency and fairness.

The filing of nominations for the Assam Panchayat elections is set to begin tomorrow.

The scrutiny of nominations will take place on April 12.

The last date for withdrawing candidature is April 17.

The counting of votes for both phases is scheduled for May 11.
