CM Sarma said that the positive momentum generated by the summit will usher in a new era of growth and progress for Assam.

In a significant milestone for Assam’s economic growth, the two-day Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025 concluded on Wednesday, securing investment commitments totalling Rs 4,91,500 crore, Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

CM Sarma stated that while the total investment commitment at Advantage Assam 2.0 currently stands at Rs 4,91,500 crore, the actual figure may go even higher as final investment tally will be available in a few days as assessments are still underway.

Chief Minister Sarma hailed the summit as a defining moment in Assam’s development trajectory. He said that Assam’s growth journey has truly began and time is not far when the state will contribute big to the India growth story.

Speaking to media, CM Sarma said that the summit’s role in transforming Assam from a dependable state to a contributory state aligns with India’s vision of Viksit Bharat. He highlighted Assam’s pioneering legacy, including the discovery of the country’s first coal mine, oil field, and oil refinery.

Expressing his optimism, he said, “The positive momentum generated by the summit, along with the massive investment proposals, will usher in a new era of growth and progress for Assam.”

“When I entered politics, I envisioned a future where Assam would shine, and today, that vision is becoming a reality. The future of Assam is now clear we are witnessing a bright and prosperous Assam. This year, Jagiroad will commence large-scale semiconductor production. Through a pioneering initiative by the Tata Group, 1,800 girls from Assam have been selected for employment in the semiconductor processing industry. They are currently training in Bengaluru and will soon return to contribute to chip manufacturing. Additionally, Guwahati airport will be recognised as India’s fifth-largest airport this year. I believe 2025 will be a defining moment for us,” said CM Sarma.

Over the past decade, Assam has registered a GSDP growth of over 12% and is expected to clock a growth of 15.2% this fiscal. The Chief Minister has set his eyes on a robust economic growth targeting $143 billion by 2030.

The CM outlined several big ticket projects such as Jagiroad Semiconductor Plant, NRL Refinery, LGBI Airport Expansion and Brahmaputra Connectivity which are poised to accelerate the state’s development.

“In the last decade, Assam registered GSDP over 12 per cent. Today, Assam is ready for a fresh beginning with several achievements. From this year onwards Assam’s Jagiroad Semiconductor will start producing 48 million chips to be supplied to domestic and international markets. Assam’s NRL refinery will become the first in its segment to produce bio-ethanol from bamboo, thereby becoming the first refinery to achieve this feat. The new terminal of LGBI airport will be dedicated this year along with a bridge over the Brahmaputra connecting Guwahati with North Guwahati. All these taken together will transform the growth trajectory of Assam,” he added.

CM Sarma extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his guidance and active participation in the summit, as well as to the Union Council of Ministers for their continued support. He affirmed that the MoUs signed during the summit would be implemented in letter and spirit, ensuring tangible benefits for Assam’s economy.

He also emphasised the need for skilled manpower to match the evolving industrial landscape, urging higher education institutions to enhance skill development programs in alignment with Industry 4.0.

It needs to be mentioned here that Dassault Systems, the technology arm of Paris-based Dassault Group is setting up an aerospace and defence automotive electric vehicle training hub in Assam. The project is being set up with an investment of Rs 200 Crore from Dassault and Rs 40 crore from Assam Government.
Dassault Systems that looks after Rafeal aircraft, 3D printing and works on new generation technology is setting up an aerospace and defence automotive electric vehicle training hub. “A Centre of excellence will be established in Guwahati Engineering college; this will be the hub. From here around 50 colleges in Assam will be trained through the spoke model,” CM Sarma had said on September 13, 2024 when the announcement was made.
