Assam: ACS officer caught red handed while taking bribe

The Assam Police has intensified it’s crackdown on corruption based on it’s Zero Tolerance policy to curb the menace.

A senior official of the Assam government has been caught red handed while taking money in favour of renewing a license.

The tainted Assam Civil Service (ACS) officer has been identified as KK Sharma, who is serving as a Joint Secretary to the Government of Assam.

It needs to be mentioned that sleuths of the Vigilance and Anti-corruption Wing apprehended Joint Secretary KK Sharma, while he was taking Rs 90, 000 from a complainant for renewal of security firm license.

Soon, the Vigilance and Anti-corruption Wing raided the residence of KK Sharma leading to the recovery of unaccounted cash of Rs 49 Lakh 24 thousand 700. The cash has been seized and further lawful action is being taken.

It may be mentioned that, as per available data, the directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (D&VAC) has arrested 64 government employees, including a few gazetted officers, on charges of bribery since May 10 last year.
