In a major setback for the Aam Aadmi Party in Assam, two of its core members – Jitul Deka, vice president of Assam AAP, and Sushanat Kumar Nath, state spokesman, resigned from the party due to disagreement with national and state leadership.
This move comes within a day of Assam AAP withdrawing its candidate from the Guwahati Lok Sabha seat in Assam.
Earlier, in a significant turn of events, the party had withdrawn the candidate from the Guwahati Lok Sabha seat in Assam shifting its complete focus towards Dibrugarh and Sonitpur constituencies in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
On February 8, AAP MP Sandeep Pathak announced that AAP candidate Manoj Dhanohar will contest from Dibrugarh and Rishi Raj from Sonitpur and party president Bhaben Choudhury was to contest from the prestigious Guwahati seat.
