Assam Police cracked down on rowdy ‘bikers gang’, 7 detained

Police cracked down on rowdy ‘bikers gang’ and detained seven for knocking down and killing a 70-year-old elderly woman. The shocking incident took place in Bilasipara, Assam on December 10.
Eyebrows were raised and questions asked when the ‘bikers gang’ shared a video boasting how they were caught by the police and let off in 10 minutes.
In the video which has gone viral on social media, a group of intoxicated youths calling themselves ‘Gang of Devils’ was seen boasting about how they hit a woman on the street with their speeding bike resulting in her death and how they managed to come out of the police station within 10 minutes.
Besides detaining the seven persons, police have also traced the whereabouts of the main accused Minhajul Karim and are confident of arresting him soon.
In this regard, Dhubri police have also detained Karim’s parents, sister and uncle for questioning.
Meanwhile, police are also on the lookout for another accused identified as Akirul Islam alias Nabi in connection with the case.
As per inputs, it was Akirul who had uploaded the shocking video online.
Meanwhile, Police in Kokrajhar have also seized the green Royal Enfield bike that was used in committing the crime. Additionally, a person named Mun has been detained in this connection.
It may be mentioned on December 10 night the bike-borne youth rammed into the 70-year-old woman with his speeding bike.
The elderly woman was grievously injured and even though she was rushed to the nearest hospital, the woman succumbed to her injuries.
As per reports, police detained the miscreant shortly thereafter, however, the group allegedly arrived at some sort of agreement with the police, as a result of which, the accused youth was let go by the police in a matter of few minutes.
The video was purportedly recorded right after the youth was let go, in which they can be heard saying that now they are having a party.
