In a major breakthrough, the Assam Police has arrested five persons from Barpeta’s Howly and Kalgachia for their links with an outfit based out of Bangladesh having affiliation to Al Qaeda in the Indian subcontinent.
The five persons have been identified as Mohammad Suman alias Saiful Islam, Khairul Islam, Badshah Suleman, Naushad Ali, and Taimur Rahman. Of this, Mohammad Suman alias Saiful Islam is learnt to be a resident of Bangladesh.
A preliminary investigation has revealed that Saiful, who hailed from Bangladesh had illegally entered India and was associated with the Dhakakliapara Masjid. Reportedly it was Saiful who had indoctrinated & motivated the four others to join the module of Ansarullah Bangla Team to develop Barpeta as a base for alledged ‘Jihadi’ activities.
Police have also recovered several incriminating documents and electronic devices from the apprehended.
