Assam: 4 Kanwariyas Killed, 2 Injured in Head-On Collision Between Two Trucks In Gossaigaon

The deceased have been identified as Sukran Roy (20), Jai Roy (11), Bappi Ghosh (21), and Basudev Roy (22), all residents of Hatigarh village in Gossaigaon.
In a tragic incident, 4 Kanwariyas (devotees of Lord Shiva) were killed, and two others were injured in a head-on collision between a pickup truck and a container truck in Assam’s Gossaigaon in Kokrajhar district today.
The accident took place on National Highway 31 near the Kachugaon Mahamaya Temple.
As per inputs, the Kanwariyas were en route to a temple to fetch water from a nearby river and pour it on the Shiva linga on the third Monday of the holy month of Shravan, a day of particular significance to Shiva devotees, when the two truck collided head-on killing 4 on the spot.
The deceased have been identified as Sukran Roy (20), Jai Roy (11), Bappi Ghosh (21), and Basudev Roy (22), all residents of Hatigarh village in Gossaigaon.
The injured, Naba Ghosh (26) and Binan Roy (22), have been rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Gossaigaon Sub-Divisional Police Officer Hiren Kumar Deka and officers from the Kachugaon Police rushed to the scene to assess the situation.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
