Assam: 3 persons die due to landslide at Hokai Pungchi near Haflong
It may be mentioned that the incessant rain and landslides have wreaked havoc in Dima Hasao.
In a tragic incident, three persons including one minor girl allegedly died due to landslides on Saturday morning in Hokai Pungchi, 7 km from Haflong in Assam.
The deceased were identified as Pauramsuilungbe Zeme (49) who worked as an LP Teacher, Kiseteung Zeme (34), and Kanchile Zeme (4th standard) daughter of Pauheuchangbe Zeme.
It may be mentioned that the incessant rain and landslides have wreaked havoc in Dima Hasao. Meanwhile, many areas were affected due to landslides causing panic among the population.
Earlier on Friday, a minor child was killed after a huge uprooted tree fell on an auto-rickshaw due to heavy rains and storms in Byrnihat area of Meghalaya.
The incident occurred while the auto-rickshaw was on its way to Byrnihat, boarded by 2 passengers when suddenly a huge tree fell on the vehicle.
It may be mentioned here that the Ri Bhoi District is experiencing incessant rainfall due to monsoon.
In an another incident at Umroi Bypass, a Bolero pickup skidded of the road before crashing head-on onto an oncoming bus.
