Assam: 2 Suspected Gang-Rape Cases Reported in Gossaigaon

As per reports, two minor girls have been suspected to have been gang-raped in the Tulsibil area of Gossaigaon.
Amidst a surge of reported rape cases across Assam that have sparked widespread anger and unrest among the public, another shocking incident has come to light from Kokrajhar district.
Two cases of suspected gang rape have been reported from Gossaigaon in Kokrajhar further escalating tensions in the region.
As per reports, two minor girls have been suspected to have been gang-raped in the Tulsibil area of Gossaigaon.
Additional Superintendent of Police (SP) Kokrajhar, Prithiviraj Rajkhowa said that the Tulsibil Police outpost received missing reports of two minor girls on Friday. Accordingly, the police carried out a search and with help from villagers rescued the girls.
The Additional SP Kokrajhar said that medical examinations of the victims have been conducted, and they have been presented before the Child Welfare Committee. However, victims did not report any sexual encounters during interrogation. To address the issue, police are awaiting the medical reports.
“During interrogation, the victims did not report any sexual encounter. However, we are awaiting the medical reports to clarify the concern. The medical reports are expected to be received within the next two days,” Prithiviraj Rajkhowa added.
Police have detained three persons in this connection and an investigation is underway.
The Additional SP assured that further action will be based on the findings of the medical reports.
