Assam: 2 arrested in connection with tiger poaching

Two persons have been arrested in connection with poaching a tiger at the Nameri National Park. The arrested duo have been identified as Kanai Daimari and Uda Basumatary.

It may be mentioned that the case pertains to the killing of a Royal Bengal Tiger which was rescued from the Umananda island in Guwahati last year.

The Big Cat was rescued and released in the Nameri National Park.

The Royal Bengal tiger was believed to have strayed out of Orang National Park and had reached Umananda by swimming across the Brahmaputra last year.
