In an effort to emphasize the upliftment of women, the Panchayat and Rural Development Department Assam organized Asomi Sarodiya Mela 2022 in Cachar which will be held for 3 days.
Notably, Assam minister for welfare of plain tribes and backward classes department, Ranoj Pegu attended the event.
In the mela women from different SHG groups from different parts of Cachar displayed their own handmade items in different stalls.
The gala of colorful displays ranged from clothes, dolls, different traditional attires including gamuchas, etc.
Speaking to Northeast live, cabinet minister, Ranoj Pegu said that the Govt is always emphasizing the upliftment of women, to make them independent so that a strong nation can be built.
The minister also announced that a review meeting will be held on the implementation of the Forest Rights Act, 2006 in Barak Valley tomorrow.
Notably, the deputy commissioners of the Karimganj and Hailakandi districts along with the principal secretary will participate in the review meeting.
