The Centre today took a historic decision to reduce the ambit of AFSPA- Armed Forces Special Powers Act in three Northeast states of Assam, Nagaland and Manipur.
Now lets have a quick look as to what this move means on ground as far as the three states of Assam, Nagaland and Manipur are concerned.
Well, if we start with Assam, AFSPA has been removed from the districts of Dhemaji, North Lakhimpur, Majuli, Biswanath, Sonitpur, Nagaon, Hojai, Morigaon, Kamrup Metro, Darrang, Kamrup, Nalbari, Barpeta, Goalpara, Bongaigaon, Dhubri, South Salmara, Kokhrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Udalguri, Karimganj, Hailakandi, and Cachar (BARRING LAKHIPUR SUB-DIVISION)
If we go to Nagaland, AFSPA has been completely removed from 3 districts of Tuensang, Shamator And Tseminyu while it has been partially removed from 4 districts of Kohima, Wokha, Mokokchung And Longleng.
In Manipur AFSPA has been removed in areas under 15 police stations spread across 6 districts.
