Assam Congress MLA Siddiqe Ahmed has made sensational allegations against top AICC leaders of running a money based lobbying system within the party. Siddiqe Ahmed alleged that Congress party’s Assam incharge Jitendra Singh and the party’s Rajya Sabha election agent Prithviraj Sathe had asked for money in lieu of tickets for the state assembly polls.

Ahmed said that he was asked to pay Rs 5 crore to the Congress leadership to get a ticket for the state polls. He further said that Sathe is responsible for the alleged cross voting that has taken place leading to the defeat of Congress candidate Ripun Bora.

Ahmed also said that some of the top Congress leaders are involved in the money making business within the party and it is the result of this that cross voting has taken place and he is being made a scapegoat for this.

Siddiqe Ahmed also targeted Assam Congress president Bhupen Bora by stating that ever since he took over the reins of the party, the bribe system within the party has further increased. Ahmed said that under Bora it is almost impossible to attain any sort of leadership within the party without paying bribe. He also stated that Congress MLA Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha is the leader of the entire bribery gang in the Barak Valley districts.

Refuting allegations of cross voting on him, Siddiq Ahmed said that he is being made a scapegoat by the Congress leadership. Ahmed said that he did not make any mistake while casting his vote and challenged the Congress leadership as well the election commission authorities to check his vote that he cast yesterday at the Rajya Sabha polls. He further said that his suspension form the party is unjustified and is just a ploy to hide the shady dealings within of the Congress leadership.
