At least three people have died in an explosion that took place at NEEPCO’s Kopili Hydroelectric Project in the 5 Kilo area of Dima Hasao district of Assam.

The deceased have been identified as Dimaraj Jahari, a contractual employee, Anupam Saikia, the Deputy Manager, and Jayanta Saikia, the manager of the project.

Initial reports suggested that the blast had taken place in the water canal causing water to overflow in the entire area.

It may be mentioned here that an another explosion had taken place in the Kopili Hydroelectric Project some 2 years back.

Meanwhile, further information is awaited as to the current situation in the area.
