Silchar Medical College has again hit the headlines for the wrong reasons. Tension prevailed at the premises of the Silchar Medical College and Hospital last night after three miscreants tried to kidnap an infant from the maternity ward.

The three individuals – two women and a man, were caught red-handed by the people present at the ward when they tried to escape with the newborn.

As narrated by the mother of the infant, the two women entered the maternity ward and took the crying baby in their arms and persuaded the mother that they will help her calm her baby, while the man accompanying both the women stood outside.

However, the very next minute, one of the women grabbed the mother’s face, and the other lady punched the relative attending to the mother and the newborn, and tried to run away with the baby.
Hearing the mother’s cry, the other people present in the ward and the security guards present promptly intervened and rescued the baby.

Later, the police reached the hospital and arrested all three miscreants.

This incident has created a stir in the hospital and has raised questions about the security arrangements at the Silchar Medical College and hospital.
