Two Ukrainian nationals have been detained in the Karimganj district of Assam on Friday for not possessing relevant documents.
The two Ukrainians were identified as Trischinky Vladimir (39) and Nazary Vozniuk (21) who were held at Badarpur railway station.
The duo was arrested based on suspicion by the on-duty Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP).
Reportedly, the detained persons have come to India in February for vacation and their luggage and documents including their visa and passport were stolen in Agartala.
Meanwhile, the police are in touch with the Ukraine embassy in connection with the statements and details if the two detainees.
Legal actions will be taken against them if it is found that the duo has lied to the Railway Police, officials informed.
