Assam: Spurned Lover’s Aides Throw Acid on Girl and Family in Their Sleep

The incident has been reported from Khopnikuchi area of Hajo in Assam. The culprits threw acid through a window.
A family was allegedly attacked with acid by friends of a man who was stalking their daughter. The attack happened while they were asleep. In the early hours of Tuesday, the miscreants threw acid on them severely burning the teenage girl, her mother and her brother.
They were rushed to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where they are said to be in a critical condition.
The incident has been reported from Khopnikuchi area of Hajo in Assam. The culprits threw acid through a window.
According to family sources, the daughter was the target of the attackers as she was receiving increasingly serious threats from a young man who was infatuated with her but she was ignoring him.
The man had made repeated advances which she rebuffed, leading to a series of intimidating warnings. The family had temporarily moved the girl and her mother to her maternal uncle’s home in Khopnikuchi out of fear for their safety.
