Assam: Indian SIM cards supplied to Pak agents; 10 picked up, 5 arrested

In a big breakthrough, Assam police busted a gang that was allegedly leaking sensitive information to ISI agents of Pakistan and arrested five people so far.
Police identified ten members of the gang and have so far picked up several people in connection after running raids in several locations in Nagaon and Morigaon districts.
As per sources, the gang was engaged in anti-India activities and had been leaking sensitive information regarding India’s security to ISI agents in Pakistan. From Nagaon district, police have arrested Asikul Islam, Badruddin, Mizanur Rahman and Wahiduz Zaman. From Morigaon district, police have arrested one Baharul Islam.
Reportedly, police seized one mobile phone from Asikul Islam that possesses two IMEI numbers. It is being alleged that sensitive information regarding India’s security was being leaked to ISI agents through the mobile phone via WhatsApp.
Meanwhile, police have also seized 18 mobile phones, 136 sim cards, one fingerprint scanner machine, one CPU and several incriminating documents from the possession of the arrested persons. Meanwhile, police is conducting more raids to nab more people associated with this ring.

During the operation the following items were seized-

  1. 18 number of Mobile Phones
  2. 136 numbers of SIM Cards suspected to have been procured for fraudulent purposes
  3. One finger print scanner
  4. One high tech CPU
  5. Some related documents (Birth Certificates, Passbooks, Photographs etc)

During interrogation, it has been revealed that accused Ashiqul Islam was using a mobile handset with two IMEI numbers from which a WhatsApp call was made sharing Indian Defense System-related information with a foreign embassy. The mobile phone used in this purpose has already been seized. During the preliminary probe, it has also been established that the other accused are also found technically involved in this connection.
Further investigation into the matter is on.
