As politicking picks pace in Assam ahead of the by-polls, another incident of prepoll violence rocked the Samaguri Assembly seat.
The incident of pre-poll violence was reported from Juria under the Samaguri assembly constituency which is going to by-poll on November 13.
As per inputs, a BJP worker identified as Akbar Ali was allegedly attacked by unidentified miscreants while he was returning home from the Kesakhaiti market in Samaguri. Ali was severely injured in the attack following which he was rushed to the Kawoimari health centre.
Alie was later referred to a hospital in Nagaon for further treatment. It needs to be mentioned that earlier, a BJP worker was killed in pre-poll violence in Samaguri on October 15.
However, the campaigning is in full swing in the constituency of Samaguri ahead of the upcoming bye-elections. Candidates of both Congress and the BJP are engaged in hectic campaigning setting the stage for a tough contest. BJP candidate Diplu Ranjan Sarma is busy conducting door-to-door campaigning in a bid to reach out to more voters.
Sarma is facing off against Dhubri MP Rakibul Hussain’s son Tanzil Hussian in Samaguri and campaigning has hit a feverish pitch amid the charged-up atmosphere which has also seen a few poll-related violence.
