Assam: 2 KLO cadres killed in Kokrajhar district

Breakthrough for security forces as 2 KLO rebels were gunned down after the reportedly opened fired at the troopers.
Two cadres of the proscribed Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) were killed in a fierce gun battle with a joint team of Assam Police and CRPF personnel in Kokrajhar district this afternoon.
As per inputs, the gun battle took place at Maoriagaon in Kokrajhar district.
The gun battle ensued after the security forces engaged in operations came under fire from the KLO rebels, forcing them to open fire in retaliation. The slain KLO rebels have been identified as Abhijit Dekha of Udalguri district and Nipon Rai of Bongaigaon district.
Few others managed to flee.
Following the firing, the police team busted a KLO camp at the Chakrashil hills. In the meanwhile, reports suggest that 3 KLO cadres have been arrested in follow up action by the police.
However, the identity of these rebels is yet to be ascertained.
It may be mentioned that the Assam Police had launched the operation, after a group of armed miscreants had created ruckus at the Bandorpar area, allegedly threatened a shop owner at gunpoint, took away essentials and livestock.
