In a major success for security forces, Khonsa Battalion of Assam Rifles along with Tirap Police in Arunachal Pradesh apprehended an ULFA-Independent cadre from Noglo village in Tirap district, close to the Indo-Myanmar international border.
The apprehended cadre has been identified as Dibyajyoti Senapati alias Dipen Asom, a resident of Dibrugarh in Assam.
As per sources, the apprehended cadre has infiltrated Indian territory after deserting the ULFA-I camp located in Myanmar.
Reportedly, harsh living conditions coupled with a lack of motivation among the cadres is the key reason for UGs deserting militant camps. The joint team intercepted the insurgent once he crossed over to the Indian side.
Earlier on Monday, security forces apprehended two armed cadres of the NSCN-IM in Assam along with a 7.62 mm pistol and a magazine.
