10 coal miners engaged at a coal mine in Finboro along the Assam-Arunachal border in eastern Assam’s Tinsukia district were abducted by suspected ULFA-I and NSCN (K-YA) cadres in the wee hours today.
As per sources, 7 unidentified men held the workers at gun point and forced them onto a dumper at old Longtoi, a remote area in Changlang district around 3 am today.
One of the abductees has been identified as Gyan Thapa.
SP Changlang Kirli Padu has confirmed the report of abduction of the labourers.
The family members of Gyan Thapa appealed for his release.
His father said, “What else can I say at this moment. I look after the home, because Gyan’s mother is no more. My son went there hoping to earn money for us. When I came across the information, I felt really sad. It will be really good if my son is released safely from captivity.”
