The State Government has turned down activist Sol Dodum’s demand for an on-camera meet with Home Minister Bamang Felix, who had extended a talk invitation to Dodum. Itanagar Capital Region

The State Government has turned down activist Sol Dodum’s demand for an on-camera meet with Home Minister Bamang Felix, who had extended a talk invitation to Dodum.

Itanagar Capital Region Deputy Commissioner Talo Potom, who had extended the invitation to Dodum on behalf of the minister said that it was against the protocol of the Civil Secretariat to hold a meeting in presence of the media.

DC Potom added that Sol Dodum’s demand for a meeting in presence of media may be an indication that he is not interested to meet the minister.

When asked whether Dodum would be allowed to continue his protest, DC Potom added that there is usually no reason to deny permission for a democratic stir.

Earlier, in the day, activist Sol Dodum who walked a distance of 225 kms from Seppa to Itanagar to highlight his demand for clean drinking water in Seppa, turned down a talk invitation by minister Mama Natung.

Meanwhile, hundreds of protesters took to the streets today to demand clean drinking water and good roads.

The protest had begun in the morning from the helipad ground and headed towards the DC office. As soon as the protestors reached the DC office at Seppa, the situation got tense as the crowd tried to enter the DC office premises forcefully even as the guards closed the gates. Eventually, some of them managed to force their way through.

Talking about the protest in Seppa, Dodum said people have finally come out and are demanding for the right to clean drinking water. This protest comes just a day after Chief Minister Pema Khandu stated that he has ordered a ground verification into the issue of drinking water in Seppa and also sought a report on it.
