RPC Issue: AAPSU accuses Chakma-Hajongs of playing the religion card

The All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) has escalated its attack on the Chakma, Hajongs over the Residential Proof Certificate (RPC) issue. The apex students body of the frontier state today alleged that the Chakmas and Hajongs were “playing the religion card” to pursue their demand.

Briefing newspersons, AAPSU chairman Nabam Gandhi said, “You all know People from Kashmir to Kanyakumari are based here, from Banderdewa to Chimphu, people from different parts of the nation are settled here and doing their business. But Chakmas in the name of religion is maligning the image of Arunachal Pradesh. You know, Chakmas may belong to Buddhism, we do not have any issue, Hajongs may be Hindus, we dont have any issue. “

The AAPSU chairman added that the people of Arunachal Pradesh will never accept them (Chakma, Hajongs) as indigenous. Gandhi said,”You have been here since 50 years as a refugee with temporary settlement. And Arunachalees will never accept You (Chakma/Hajongs) as indigenous. The Chakmas and hajongs should be clear about this.”

Nabam Gandhi in strong words of condemnation said, “the The game (attempt) to malign the image of Arunachal Pradesh by Chakma Hajongs, we as AAPSU condemn this. Such things should never happen.”

The AAPSU chairman in a challenge of sorts said that they (Chakmas and Hajongs) will never get RPCs no matter even if they go to Delhi or the UNO.
