Welfare of all is the sole agenda on which the Pema Khandu 3.0 government has laid it’s focus on. Led from the front by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, his 11-member Council of Ministers have been assigned the portfolios based on their past experiences, their knowledge and expertise in the relevant fields.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu briefing newspersons today said that the government has already decided on what to do in the first 100 days since assuming office.
According to CM Khandu, his government from Day 1 itself has already swung into action and has already approved release of Rs 100 crore under the Chief Minister’s Social Security Scheme.
The Arunachal Pradesh CM said, “After assuming office I have given approval to the sanctioning of Rs 100 crore for schemes which is the Chief Minister’s Social Security Scheme. This will cover the specially abled, citizens above 60 years as well as the widows. I had launched this scheme several years ago and since then they have been getting financial assistance from the government every year. For this year I have given approval to Rs 100 crore.”
Sharing details of what transpired in the first cabinet meeting, CM Khandu said, “We have a discussed a lot in the first cabinet meeting on what we are going to do in the first 100 days. We are going ahead with the 24 pillars. Education is one such pillar which is one of our topmost priorities. We have targetted for the welfare of youths, farmers as well as women and accordingly set a work plan for the first 100 days.
We have broadly mentioned about what we are going to do in the next 5 years. On the basis of the manifesto we will be going ahead. For the Education Department I have given the responsibility to Passang Dorjee Sona who was the Speaker also and is very experienced.”
“Improvement in health sector, generating employment, and a lot of other things are to be done which will be given priority,” CM Khandu added.
Asked as to what he expects from the new Home Minister Mama Natung, the Chief Minister said, “Since the BJP came to power in this state, the bandh culture is totally finished. Earlier there used to be bandh 4-5 times in a month, but after the BJP rule started the bandh culture has totally ceased to exist in the last 8 years.
The Home and Police Departments are working very efficiently. The DGP, officers of different ranks as well as the jawans are working diligently. In the new government, a new person has been given the responsibility of the Home Department. He (Mama Natung) is a very matured leader. Hopefully he will run the Home Department efficiently.”
Highlighting that BJP has always given priority to welfare of women, CM Khandu sharing his thoughts on induction of Dasanglu Pul as a cabinet minister said, “BJP has done lot of things for the empowerment of women. Under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi a lot of women centric schemes have been rolled out and it is being implemented in reality.
Under PM Modi’s regime the Women’s Reservation Bill has been passed that provides one-third reservation to women in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies.
The women play a very important role in the society. So the BJP unit of Arunachal Pradesh have decided to bring out such women and involve them in policy making. So we have given a cabinet berth to a woman MLA. In 2029 when there will be elections, I told the party members last night also that we will not remain to 33% percent reservation for women, but will try to increase it in our way to the best possible.”
