Northeast rallies against narcotics, arrests in Arunachal & Manipur

Anti drug operations were carried out in Arunachal Pradesh & Manipur in an effort to curb the drug menace

In their efforts against drug menace in Arunachal Pradesh, the Anti-Drug Squad, Namsai led by DySP(P) Kengo Dirchi alongwith OC PS Namsai, Inspector Tasi Yangi and Inspector Tabin Padung of PS Namsai, raided the house of one Smti. Onthu Manchey yesterday in the presence of Executive Magistrate, Miss Hage Nari.

Based on specific information received from a reliable source, Smti. Onthu Manchey of Mukron village, Namsai is said to be involved in selling contraband substance such as Heroin and other drugs.

During search operation, 52 plastic containers containing white and orange colour powdery substance suspected to be contraband substances weighing approx. 5 grams and cash amount of Rs 33,430/- suspected to be sale proceeds of contraband substance were seized.

Meanwhile, the accused has been formally arrested, the recovered items have been seized in presence of independent witnesses and a case under the NDPS Act has been registered and endorsed to Sub-Inspector T.Poglaham for investigation.

In another operation in Manipur a  team of police from Lamlai police station under SDPO Lamlai, on May 5th , seized 24 packets of contraband ganja or cannabis weighing 12 kilograms each from the house of 31-year-old, Laishram Sudhir Singh under Sagolmang Police Station’s jurisdiction.

Based on specific inputs, the team of police seized the contraband at 4:30 pm yesterday and arrested Singh along with the contraband.
