No release for Sol Dodum. Is Dodum a threat to Arunachal’s peace?

Fresh detention order has been issued by Itanagar administration starting today under which Dodum and 7 others would again be under detention for few more days

Rights activist Sol Dodum and 7 others have been issued fresh detention order. They would be in detention for few more days starting today, DC Itanagar Capital Region Talo Potom.

“Those who had serious allegations and those who might create problems related to peace and tranquility in the coming days have been kept temporarily,” DC Talo Potom said, adding that Dodum and the 7 others have been considered by the administration as those who could create law and order situation in the state if released now.

Dodum and the rest have been in detention since May 8-9. They were put under detention under provisions of the APUAPA Act (APUAPA) to prevent any law and order situation during the 72-hour bandh called by certain individuals and groups from May 10-12 to protest the APPSC scam.

The other 7 detainees (key bandh callers) who were issued fresh temporary detention include:

  1. Nimi Taba
  2. Kipa Champa
  3. Taw Paul
  4. Tana Tamar
  5. Nabam Sanjay
  6. Jidam Riamuk
  7. Vijay Pertin

A total of six release orders were issued today by the Itanagar DC, while one person, namely Vijay Pertin, will be kept under custody for further verification.

“Total 26 have been released, and 8 are still in custody,” the DC informed.
The DC added that with the exception of eight detainees, the rest will be released soon.
Further, the Itanagar DC informed that a total of five persons were released on Thursday evening.
On May 29, the first batch of 18 of the 44 individuals who were detained by the Itanagar district administration under APUAPA were released.
