Major boost to football in A’chal: MoU to be signed between government, schools

The AIFF president said that a discussion was held to focus on futsal in each of the 22 districts in order to help youngsters develop skills.

In an effort to give a major boost to football in the state, All India Football Federation, president Kalyan Chaubey yesterday announced his ambitious plan of shortlisting 100 government schools in the Arunachal and sign an MoU with the government of Arunachal Pradesh.

The AIFF president arrived in the state yesterday and held a meeting with chief minister Pema Khandu.

While speaking to the media, Chaubey said that with the signing of the MoU, about 18,000 children in the state will be benefitted.

The AIFF president also said that a discussion was held to focus on futsal in each of the 22 districts in order to help youngsters develop skills.

Chaubey added that the futsal will help the children to learn the game and thereafter they will be groomed to be better players.

The AIFF will also take on lease a full-size stadium in Arunachal and put it to good use. Chaubey also announced that this attempt will help to bring the players from Arunachal to the mainstream.

It may be mentioned that It was the first-ever visit of an AIFF president to the state. Early this month, APFA secretary Kipa Ajay was elected as treasurer of the AIFF, while John Neelam is a member of the grassroots football development committee.

Chaubey said that with he will discuss with the chief minister to further improve the future of the game in the state.
