Border issue: Arunachal CM chairs key meet

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu reviewed the progress of the ongoing efforts being made to resolve the Assam-Arunachal Border issue. In this regard, Chief Minister Khandu held a meeting with the Chairmen of the Regional Committees today.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu said that his government is committed to resolve border issue and maintain peace, harmony which is the soul of the historic Namsai declaration signed on July 15 this year.

It may be mentioned that during the 3rd Chief Ministerial level talks, both the states had agreed in principle to resolve border issues in at least 123 areas of dispute.

Under the Namsai Declaration, both the states have agreed to constitute 12 regional committees, each covering the 12 districts of Arunachal Pradesh and the counterpart districts of Assam for joint verification of 123 villages.

Factors such as historical perspective, administrative convenience, contiguity and people’s will to delineate the inter-state have been taken into account while preparing reports by the Regional Committees of both the states.
