India Firmly Rejects China’s Renaming of Arunachal Pradesh

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that such moves will not change the ground reality
India has categorically rejected China’s latest attempt to rename places in Arunachal Pradesh, asserting that the northeastern state is an integral and inalienable part of the country. Responding to media queries on the matter, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that such moves will not change the ground reality.
“We have noticed that China has persisted with its vain and preposterous attempts to name places in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. Consistent with our principled position, we categorically reject such attempts,” Jaiswal said on Wednesday.
He added that “creative naming” cannot alter the undeniable fact that Arunachal Pradesh has always been and will always remain part of India.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had previously dismissed such actions as “senseless,” stating that simply changing the names of places cannot alter their rightful ownership.
“If today I change the name of your house, will it become mine? Arunachal Pradesh was, is, and will always be a state of India. Changing names does not have an effect,” Jaishankar said earlier.
