Illegal Encroachment: Arunachal Environment minister visits Namdapha NP

Minister Natung while interacting with villagers at 50th and 60th Mile under Namdapha National Park briefed them about the guidelines of the National park.

With reports of illegal encroachments inside Namdapha National Park coming to the fore, Arunachal Pradesh Minister for Environment and Forest, Mama Natung along with Minister Kamlung Mossang and forest officials visited the National Park and interacted with villagers to take stock of the ground situation.

Minister Natung while interacting with villagers at 50th and 60th Mile under Namdapha National Park briefed them about the guidelines of the National park.

He urged them to vacate the area and to settle anywhere outside the jurisdiction of the park while assuring them to confer all possible help.

The Minister also divulged that the government has also extended funds for resettlement.
While responding to queries, the Minister also informed that the Department has evicted various illegal structures earlier.

He also added the Department will also hold discussions with the villagers for peaceful relocation of at least eight villages.

Earlier, Villagers settled at 40th Mile and 60th Miles of the Park area expressed displeasure over the government’s decision to relocate their villages.

According to the villagers that have been residing in the area for decades, the National Park was demarcated without any consent from the villagers.
