Chakma-Hajong issue: AAPSU decides to defer 24-hour bandh

Meanwhile, the All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has now decided to defer its proposed 24-hour bandh following the state government’s order to suspend all RPCs issued to the Chakma-Hajong community.

On Sunday, the AAPSU vice president informed that the union demanded proper notification to suspend all RPCs and inclusion of members of the AAPSU in the fact-finding community.

The state government, on July 30, constituted a five-member committee who have to submit an initial report within 15 days and a final report within 45 days.

Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh Chakma Students’ Union or APCSU President Drishyamuni Chakma, while responding to the latest government order, termed it a one-sided decision and said it would affect future generations.

And, Chakma Rights and Development Organization (CRDO) general secretary Anton Chakma also gave his reactions to the government order.
