After Assam and Meghalaya signed an MoU, is another historic move on the cards to end the border dispute between Assam & Arunachal Pradesh? Well, the Centre is on a mission-mode to end inter-state boundary conflicts in the Northeast, and the next plan of action is to end the long-standing border issue between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju today informed that the home ministry is already in talks with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and his Arunachal counterpart Pema Khandu, and is all set to initiate the process of arriving at a decisive solution in a phased-manner. Rijiju added that the first phase of the process to end the border dispute will begin by April-end.
It may be mentioned here that earlier last week, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that he envisages to work towards making the Northeast a growth engine of the country. To achieve this goal, the Assam Chief Minister stressed on solving inter-state border disputes at the earliest. With regard to the border issue with Arunachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Sarma informed that both the states have formed a road map to settle 122 disputed points.
