Assam, Arunachal border issue: CM-level talks soon

Assam Arunachal border talks: Issues pertaining to 21 villages have already been resolved, while 50 villages are still under consideration.

Assam Border affairs minister Atul Bora today said that ongoing talks with Arunachal Pradesh will get a final shape very soon, most probably within November.

The Assam Border Affairs minister spoke to Northeast Live, and said that reports have been submitted to the respective Chief Ministers by the Regional Committees of both sides. The reports were handed over after the Regional Committees made joint inspection of the areas of differences following the signing of the Namsai Declaration.

Speaking about the recent meeting with Chief Minister Pema Khandu, the Assam Border Affairs minister said key issues faced by Regional Committees of both the sides topped the agenda.

Meanwhile, Atul Bora is hopeful that strong political will of both Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Chief Minister Pema Khandu have helped the states in achieving the progress over the Assam, Arunachal border issue.

While stating that Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu has sought for Chief Ministerial level talks by November 15, Atul Bora said that the talks will be very important since it is likely to give the final shape.
