Assam and Arunachal Pradesh are set to start the process of settling the inter-state boundary dispute.

As per highly placed sources, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma and Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu are set to meet on April 19.

While the venue of the meet is not confirmed yet, the meeting will set the ball rolling for the settlement of boundary disputes between the two states.

This comes as a big move after Assam recently signed a historic agreement between Assam and Meghalaya to settle disputes in six of 12 areas along the inter-state boundary.

After the success with Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh is the next focus for the Assam Chief Minister to go ahead and effectively settle the matter once and for all.

While Assam’s talks with Meghalaya have yielded success so far, it is being expected that border with Arunachal Pradesh may yield favourable results as well given the fact that the Chief Ministers of Assam and Arunachal share a good bonhomie.
