Arunachal Pradesh: Awareness campaign on Drugs starts in Dirang

The campaign has been organised by Aama Tenzin and Aapa KuhZab Trashi Dirkhipa Memorial Charitable Foundation Trust of Sanggey-Dling Thembang.

In a bid to keep Dirang sub-division free from the drug menace, the second phase of Drug-Free Awareness Campaign kick started in Dirang sub-division of Arunachal’s West Kameng district today.

The campaign has been organised by Aama Tenzin and Aapa KuhZab Trashi Dirkhipa Memorial Charitable Foundation Trust of Sanggey-Dling Thembang.

As part of the programme, members of the trust along with other volunteers went around town destroying cannabis plants by spraying herbicides on them.

As per sources, the campaign of destroying cannabis plants will cover all three blocks including Dirang, Thembang, and Lish blocks, which will also include seminars to sensitize youth and stakeholders about the perils of drug abuse.

The campaign was flagged off by West Kameng Zilla Parisad Chairperson Rinchin Zomba Merakpa and Dirang Additional Deputy Commissioner JT Obi in the presence of vice president (headquarter) of Monpa Mimang Tsokpa Tsering Tashi, BJP Mandal president Dirang Unit Nawang Lopsang, police, administrative officers and SSB officials of 30th Battalion Dirang also shouldered the campaign.
