In a major breakthrough for security forces, Longding Battalion of Assam Rifles along with the Longding Police apprehended a cadre of the NSCN K-YA in possession with Rupees 4 lakh 70 thousand extortion money from Pongchao village of Longding District.
He was apprehended based on specific intelligence input. The over ground worker has confessed that the illegally collected extortion money was meant to be delivered to an NSCN K-YA cadre across the border in Myanmar.
The seizure of the exorbitant extortion money is a major setback to NSCN K-YA operating in Longding District and the insurgent along with the recovered cash has been handed over to Pongchao Police.
