Arunachal: ‘Gaon Burha’ of Longding district abducted; NSCN K-YA suspected
The abducted victim is identified as Napho Boham, Gaon Burah of Lauksim vill of Longding District.
A group of suspected NSCN K-YA militants has abducted a ‘Gaon Burah’ or village head in the Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh.
As per inputs, the abduction took place on the intervening night of May 7 and 8 when an armed group of suspected NSCN K-YA insurgents sneaked in from Laukun village of Mon District and abducted Napho Boham, Gaon Burah of Lauksim vill of Longding District.
Self-Styled Lieutenant Wangbet Wangjen is suspected to be behind this abduction.
As per sources, taken aback due to the conduct of back-to-back operations by the security forces, militants from the K-YA faction of the NSCN have started to adopt a separate strategy to continue with their extortion-related activities in the Tirap – Changlang – Longding region of Arunachal Pradesh.
Intelligence agencies who are keeping a ‘hawk eye’ on insurgency-related activities in the TCL belt have already got a whiff of the ‘new strategy’ being adopted by the militant outfit whose leaders are believed to be operating from their camps in Myanmar. ‘
As per the new modus operandi, these UGs have now started calling people to places close to the Indo-Myanmar border in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh and Mon district of Nagaland on the pretext of holding some discussions and when they turn up, they are held captive until and unless they pay huge ransom money.
Reliable sources in the intelligence agencies have informed that at least 4 such instances from the Longding district have come to the fore in the past couple of months.
