Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu has expressed total dismay over the slow pace of construction of NH-415 from Papu Nallah to Nirjuli where work has been going on for the four-laning of the highway.
Chief Minister Khandu held a review meeting and said that the ‘dismally slow’ construction process of the four-lane highway stretch is causing extreme inconvenience to commuters.
The Chief Minister directed the concerned officials to immediately expedite the work without compromising on quality.
Expressing concern over the damages caused by heavy rains in Itanagar and adjoining areas, CM Khandu instructed the departments concerned to immediately undertake repair works, especially on the highway to ensure smooth flow of traffic and to prevent any disruption to people’s routines.
Heavy downpour has left a trail of destruction in Itanagar on Sunday. The crucial NH-415 between Itanagar and Naharlagun has been damaged at multiple locations with a portion of the highway at BP Plaza in Itanagar completely washed away.
Three places — Itanagar- Papunallah, Niti Vihar, and Abotani colony have been severely affected by the sudden rains.
Additionally, instances of landslides have also been reported from various locations.
