Arunachal: Centre sanctions Rs 217.19 cr for setting up of Cancer Institute in Doimukh

The upcoming project will have facilities such as High-End Linear Accelerators, CT Simulator, Brachytherapy Unit, High-End Laboratories, Modular OTs, PET CT Scan, MRI and CT Scan.

In a big boost towards improving cancer healthcare facilities in Arunachal Pradesh, the Ministry of DoNER (Development of North Eastern Region) has sanctioned Rs 217.19 crore for the establishment of State Cancer Institute in the frontier state.

The state-of-the-art health institute, the first in Arunachal will be set up Midpu, Doimukh under Papum Pare district.

This state-of-the-art 76-bedded comprehensive cancer treatment centre will be developed in technical collaboration with Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute (a unit of Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai) Guwahati, Assam and TMC Mumbai, Department of Atomic Energy, India.

The upcoming project will have facilities such as High-End Linear Accelerators, CT Simulator, Brachytherapy Unit, High-End Laboratories, Modular OTs, PET CT Scan, MRI and CT Scan.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed his gratitude to the DoNER ministery in a post on social media and said, “Once operational, the Centre will immensely benefit our cancer patients who otherwise travel to far off places for want of better treatment.

Together, let us fight the cancer menace!”
