Khandu government already received support of 3 independent MLAs, 2 PPA MLAs and 3 MLAs of the NCP (Ajit Pawar) faction.
The National People’s Party (NPP), already an ally of BJP in northeast under North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA), has extended its unconditional support to Pema Khandu-led BJP government in Arunachal Pradesh.
Arunachal Pradesh NPP president and also an MLA, Thangwang Wangham said, “We gave a courtesy call to the Chief Minister. Before the elections we had declared that Pema Khandu will be our Chief Ministerial face. So there was a friendly election and 5 of our candidates could win and become MLAs. We are already in the NDA, but officially we submitted a letter to him today, stating that we are with him for the development of Arunachal Pradesh and work further as a Team Arunachal.”
Asked as to what he expects from the government, the Arunachal Pradesh NPP president said, “My expectation is that the Khandu government will work maturely this time. Earlier the schemes were from top to bottom, but now schemes will be from the bottom to top. The grievances and the bottlenecks at the grassroot level would be identified and we will work accordingly.”
NPP has 5 MLAs in the 60-member Arunachal Assembly.
Worth mentioning that, the Pema Khandu government has received the support of 13 MLAs so far since the government was formed on June 13 taking the strength of the government to 59, absolute majority.
BJP had won 46 seats. Now, Congress MLA Kumar Waii is the lone opposition leader in the Assembly.
Here are the details of who extended support to Pema Khandu Govt when:
First it was on June 17, when 3 independent MLAs Laisam Simai, Wanglam Sawin, and Tenzin Nima Glow extended their support to the Khandu government.
The very next day on June 18, 2 PPA MLAs Nabam Vivek and Oken Tayeng too expressed their support to the Pema Khandu government.
It was only on yesterday (Wednesday) that 3 MLAs of the NCP (Ajit Pawar) faction -Nikh Kamin, Likha Soni and Toko Tatung also reposed faith on CM Pema Khandu’s leadership and extended support to the government.
Today, the NPP extended its support to the Khandu government.
