In a historic event for Northeast India, the maiden made-in-India commercial flight landed in Pasighat on Tuesday in the frontier state of Arunachal Pradesh.

The flight was boarded by Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia along with Union Minister and MP from Arunachal Pradesh Kiren Rijiju.

This was the first commercial flight for the Dornier 228 aircraft manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited or HAL under Alliance Air.

The 17-seater non-pressurized Dornier 228 with an AC cabin capable of day and night operations will facilitate regional connectivity in Northeast.

The inauguration of the commercial flight service has ushered in the ear of air connectivity in Arunachal. While in the first phase, Pasighat, Tezu and Ziro will be connected by air, in the second phase of the initiative areas like Mechuka, Tuting and Vijaynagar will also get commercial air connectivity.

Not only this, as part of the Centre’s connectivity push, all the advanced landing grounds will be connected through Civil Aviation thus connecting the remotest corners of the country with the rest of India.

Speaking in the occasion, Scindia said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of development and progress through infrastructure-building and connectivity has yielded results.

Terming this as a historic moment for the Northeast and entire country, Scindia informed that this was only the first phase and in the second phase more areas in Arunachal will get air connectivity.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju too termed the occasion as a big transformational phase for the Northeast where connectivity is getting a rapid boost.

In Pasighat, Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy CM Chowna Mein, Pasighat East MLA Kaling Moyong along with Civil Aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju flagged off the flight.
