President Droupadi Murmu to embark on 2-day visit to Meghalaya

On January15, the president will grace the Meghalaya Games as the chief guest, chief minister Sangma informed.
President Droupadi Murmu will be on a 2-day visit to Meghalaya from January 15-16, informed Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.
In a social media post, Chief Minister Sangma informed that President Droupadi Murmu will reach Meghalaya on January 15.
On January15, the president will grace the Meghalaya Games as the chief guest, chief minister Sangma informed.
President’s presence will encourage the youth of Meghalaya immensely, the chief minister added.
On January 16, the president will visit Shillong where she will attend several programmes, Sangma added.
At least 3,000 athletes will be competing across 22 disciplines in the 2024 edition of the Games. For the first time, traditional or indigenous games will be part of the Meghalaya Games.
The effort is to promote the rich culture and tradition of the three tribes, Khasi, Jaintia and Garo of Meghalaya through sports.
