Taking to X, High Commissioner of Singapore to India Simon Wong termed the tripartite agreement historic and said that this will anchor peace in the region and significantly encourage foreign investors like Singapore to move into the Northeast.

“We are happy to see the historic tripartite peace pact signed amongst ULFA, GOI and the Govt of Assam. This will anchor peace in the region and give a big boost to foreign investors like Singapore to move into the Northeast. – HC Wong,” Wong posted on X.

The tripartite agreement was signed on Friday in presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and 16 ULFA leaders, including Arabinda Rajkhowa and Anup Chetia in New Delhi.

As part of the peace agreement, the government has agreed to invest Rs 1.5 lakh crore, allocating 97 assembly seats in Assam to indigenous people, and declaring the state’s yearly floods as a “national priority”.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah termed it as a golden day for the future of Assam.

He noted that as many as 9 peace and border-related pacts have been signed in the last 5 years in the region signifying PM Modi’s concern for the region.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also termed the day as historic and pointed out that apart from the Paresh Baruah-led ULFA-Independent, all groups in Assam have now joined the mainstream. With the signing of the agreement, over 700 ULFA cadres will now join mainstream.
