The Naga Tribes Council held a meeting with a number of Naga groups and civil society bodies in Dimapur to hold thorough deliberations on the possible influx of migrants into the state post the release of final draft NRC in Assam.

The meeting resolved to urge upon the villages and urban colonies in Dimapur District in particular to remain vigilant and not issue resident certificate to quote unquote outsiders.

The meeting also urged upon the respective Apex tribal bodies and village councils to closely monitor, supervise, and effectively check illegal inhabitants and illegal entries into the villages and colonies.

The NTC and other groups also fervently appealed the Government to gear up the State machineries and bring out a comprehensive action plan to check illegal immigrants. It also demanded the implementation of ILP in the entire state.

The meeting further resolved to constitute a Joint Committee on Prevention of Illegal immigration comprising of 1 member each from all the attending civil society organizations under the supervision of NTC to evolve logistic coordination and to assist the State government to formulate standard operation procedure for effective implementation of ILP in the State.
