Youth suspected to be ULFA-I linkmen injured in police firing in Kamrup

An ULFA-I linkman has reportedly been shot at near Salmara in Assam’s Kamrup district.

As per inputs, the alleged linkman, identified as Pranjal Das alias Bhelok was apprehended from Rangia on Sunday night.

As per inputs, Police were reportedly taking Pranjal Das to another location to nab another ULFA linkman, when Pranjal Das reportedly tried to flee.

The incident took place at Salmara near Baihata Chariali.

Police resorted to firing to prevent Pranjal Das from escaping, during which Pranjal Das sustained a bullet injury on his left leg.

Presently, Pranjal Das has been admitted to GMCH for treatment.
Even on Friday night, at least 3 youths were allegedly on their way to join the ULFA-I when they were intercepted by a team of Assam Police.

The firing incident is suspected to have occurred at Dirak in Kakopathar locality of Assam’s Tinsukia district.

An exchange of gunfire ensued, in which all 3 youths sustained bullet injuries on their legs.

The trio has been admitted to hospital for treatment.
