Animesh Debbarma believes that the dream for a Greater Tipraland will be a reality soon.
When the talks between the Centre and the TIPRA Motha is believed to have gained momentum, the leadership of the Opposition party in Tripura, are of firm belief that a solution over the Greater Tipraland demand will be a reality soon.
Leader of the Opposition in the Tripura Legislative Assembly and TIPRA Motha leader Animesh Debbarma spoke to Northeast Live on how much progress has been achieved so far.
According to the TIPRA Motha leader, the Centre now has a better understanding of things and has acknowledged the demand.
He said, “Union Home Ministry was not knowing so much about Tripura. Because of the series of meetings between the Ministry of Home Affairs and TIPRA Motha, now I think they are much more clear about the problems in Tripura, the problems of Tiprasas. So this is definitely going to take a good shape and a day will come when we will finally achieve Greater Tipraland.”
Since the 2024 Lok Sabha elections are just months away, Animesh Debbarma also spoke about his party’s idea of going into the poll battle.
In clear terms, Debbarma said that the TIPRA Motha will back any party which will support the demand for Greater Tipraland. According to him, the national political parties have already understood the agenda of the TIPRA Motha.
Debbarma mentioned, “See we have not had any meeting about Parliamentary election. It is still 3-4 months away. We will definitely have meeting within our party, but I personally that TIPRA Motha definitely is not going to fight alone and we will maintain the same position, the position which we maintained in assembly election also. Whosoever will support our demand, we will be with them. And I am sure, BJP, Congress and CPM all 3 major parties in Tripura, they have already understood what is the sentiment, what is the demand of TIPRA Motha and what they need to do politically inorder to get our support. Now, let them decide but we are for support to any party who are with our demand.”
Last month, Centre’s representative and interlocutor AK Mishra met Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha as well as the TIPRA Motha leadership in Agartala, which was perhaps seen as the last round of talks between the stakeholders on the final possible draft.
